This week, Hybrid Intelligence World features a case by Mckinsey’s QuantumBlack, AI, which helps McKinsey’s clients harness the power of hybrid intelligence to create unimagined opportunities in a constantly changing world. McKinsey’s acquisition of QuantumBlack in 2015 has proven to be a significant accelerator for the company’s work in analytics. Originally a sophisticated analytics start-up of 30 data scientists, data engineers, and designers in London.
QuantumBlack’s focus is on “hybrid intelligence”, combining the creativity of human minds with domain expertise with innovative technology. The company combines the brilliance of the human mind and domain expertise with innovative technology to solve the most difficult problems. The team includes skilled and experienced data scientists and engineers. McKinsey's end-to-end and transformative approach is what sets it apart, as clients have noticed. Two years ago, most of its AI work was in single-use cases, and now roughly half is transformational.
QuantumBlack has been critical in many digital and AI transformations across industries, and the firm has undergone intensive training and certification in all aspects of AI and machine learning, including digital and analytics risk. QuantumBlack Labs, which creates tech assets that can solve up to 70 percent of the work that used to be done on a bespoke basis, will expand significantly over the next year.
The QuantumBlack team recently collaborated with Sougwen Chung, an AI artist and researcher, to produce a painting that represents the concept of hybrid intelligence and serves as the foundation for the company's new visual identity.
Initially, QuantumBlack's data scientists utilized data from a river to train their CausalNex machine learning model, as it requires the cooperation of both humans and technology. Sougwen then integrated her own biofeedback into the model. Two robotic arms, guided by the model, move in coordination with Sougwen as she paints, producing a captivating and dynamic visual. The outcome, as depicted in the accompanying video, showcases the blend of artistic expression and technological innovation that QuantumBlack employs to deliver cutting-edge solutions to its clients.
